In 1972 Hawaiian Island Creations was created by Brother Stephan and Jimmy Tsukayama to appeal to the tourist industry in Hawaii. Paul Ichimura was commissioned to create the present and distinctive symmetrical logo. In 1974 HIC was relocated to their Kailua Bike Shop on Uluni Street where a line of Kailua Surf Boards and a full scale skateboarding department was added.
